The Inspiration Behind Our Community Service Program

Kgatelopele Community Based HIV Services is a non-profit organisation aiming at educating the community about infectious diseases and how to prevent them; its vision is to have a disease free community.
Kgatelopele Community Based HIV Services create a platform where communities and individuals get opportunities to improve their lives and their social behaviour through psychosocial interventions, meant to educate, inform, raise awareness, build youth and strengthen community capacity. Kgatelopele Community Based HIV Services is currently implementing Social Behavior Change programmes which focus mainly on facilitating programmes that deals with structural drivers of HIV, GBV and other social ills in communities. Again it also focuses on psycho social support for people living with chronic illnesses.
The organisation enhances social functioning and human capacities; it promotes social solidarity through participation and community involvement in social welfare and promotes social inclusion through empowerment of those who are socially and economically excluded from the mainstream of society.
It also protects and promotes the rights of populations at risk; as well as addresses oppression and discrimination arising not only from structural forces but caused by social and cultural beliefs and practices which hamper social inclusion.
The organisation seeks to contribute significantly to community building and local institutional development. Developmental social welfare emphasizes the empowerment of individuals, families, groups and communities as active participants in the developmental process. The process of planned social change designed to promote the well-being of the population as a whole, in conjunction with a dynamic process of economic development.
